This stretch of the Verde is great for everyone. It's a Class 1 river, so there isn't any true whitewater. Along the way you can expect a variety of exhilarating little chutes and riffles, interspersed between scenic, tranquil pools. Most of the river is shallow enough to easily stand up on the rare occasion that you might tip out of your boat. And trust us, it is the rare occasion. At the onset of the trip, your ACA certified guide will instruct you on basic paddling and boat control skills. From there your guide will offer you as much or as little assistance as needed.
As you cruise down the Verde you’ll find yourself immersed in a whole new world as you float past 900 year old ruins of the ancient Sinagua Culture. Under the cool canopy of native willow trees you'll take in the rich ecology of the forested riparian zone where over 75 percent of Arizona’s biodiversity thrives. This wilderness environment is composed of red rocks, canyons, lush desert forests and a wide variety of unique wildlife. It's a magical place that you have to see to believe.
Enjoy our regular kayak trip with a refreshing finish! After the trip, walk across the street to Smelter Town Brewery for your choice of a beer flight or 2 pints. Paddles-to-Pints (must be 21) is $117 plus tax.
